With high education standards and great career prospects, the US is an amazing country to pursue higher education. Industries highly value the degrees that international students gain in the US. Apart from the quality education and multiple skills, international students also get amazing cultural experiences while they study in US. They get an opportunity to meet with people from different walks of life and learn from them. The US universities offer three intakes to international students, i.e., in January, May, and September. The highest chance of getting an offer letter from a US university is in the May intake, as the number of applicants in the May intake is less than the other two intakes. Before studying in the US, students must apply for an F-1 visa.

For the smooth process of visa for summer intake, the students have to follow the following procedure to apply for it.
Step 1: Apply to a US university and get an offer letter
The first step is to apply for your course at a preferred university and eventually be accepted. To apply for the F-1 Visa, an offer letter from a US university is very important; without that, you cannot apply for the visa. To timely get an offer letter from the university, students must apply last by the end of November. You have to apply for the visa as soon as you receive an offer letter from the university.
Step 2: Get your Form I-20 from the university
The Form I-20 is a certificate which proves that you have enrolled in a US university as a non-immigrant student. After being accepted by the university, students will receive Form I-20 from the university.
Step 3: Deposit the SEVIS fee
After receiving the I-20, students have to pay their I-901 SEVIS fee online. The SEVIS fee for an F-1 visa is about 350 USD.
Step 4: Look for the nearest US embassy or consulate
The students can search for the nearest US embassy or consulate through the online portal of the US Department of State. The time for obtaining the visa may fluctuate slightly depending on which embassy you apply through.
Step 5: Fill out the DS-160 form
The students have to fill out the DS-160 form online. It is a non-immigrant visa application form which you have to fill out to get an F-1 visa. While filling out this form, students have to select US Embassy, where they can reach for the visa interview.
Step 6: Select an appointment for your visa interview
After filling out the DS-160 form, students have to contact their US Embassy to schedule their visa interview.
Step 7: Pay your visa application fee
As soon as you schedule the visa interview, you must pay your visa application fee. The US student visa application fee is 160 USD. Also, it’s important to carry the receipt of the visa application fee while appearing for an interview.
Step 8: Appear for the visa interview
The students have to compulsorily appear for the interview on the scheduled date and time. Make sure you reach out well in advance at the embassy and are formally dressed. The interview is a very important part of your visa process. It decides whether you will be granted a US student visa or not.
Step 9: Get a visa
If the student has fulfilled all the visa requirements and cracked the interview, they’ll definitely get the US visa. Please know that some embassies will ask you to pick up your visa in person, while others will simply ship it to you.
For your US F1 Student Visa application, you will typically require the following documents:

Passport size photograph
DS-160 confirmation page
