Describe a time you moved to a new home/school cue card - sample answer 1

Introduction

The experience of moving from one location to another brings with it a myriad of advantages and disadvantages.  On one hand, we get to meet new people and explore new cultures, cuisines, weather, and ways of life. While, the departure from familiar faces and cherished past experiences can evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing.

When you moved?/ Why did you move?/ Where have you moved?

I had to relocate for work about three years ago. After graduating from college, I got a job offer from a multinational company, so I had to relocate to Surat from Tonk, a small town in Rajasthan.

How did you feel about it?

The transition from one state to another state was difficult at first. The first issue I had was food because I was used to eating handmade healthy food, but due to a busy schedule in a different city, I rarely got the chance to cook fresh food. Therefore, I had to order from outside, which wasn’t as healthy as homemade food. Also, because I am used to the countryside's peacefulness, the city's rush and bustle was initially a major issue. However, with time, I began to like the vibe of city life. Overall, moving from one city to another was a wise move for me.

Describe a time you moved to a new home/school cue card - sample answer 2

Introduction

People relocate from one location to another for a variety of reasons. The decision to move stemmed from a desire to be closer to my family, leading me to move to a larger residence.

When you moved?

My initial move transpired when I left my home for college in a different city. Subsequently, upon completing my graduation, the inclination to reunite with my family prompted the decision to relocate.

Why did you move?

I recently graduated from college and was seeking a full-time job in Mumbai. My pursuit led me to apply to various companies with attractive compensation and opportunities for professional growth. Fortuitously, I secured an assistant human resource manager position in a multinational corporation, heralding a new chapter of possibilities.  Aside from that, our previous property was small, with insufficient space to store our belongings.

Therefore, we have been looking for a big house for some time. After receiving job confirmation, I began looking for a larger residence near Thane, Mumbai and ended up with a beautiful, spacious home with a small garden. The best thing was that this new residence's rent and maintenance costs were lower than other houses on that street/ colony. We were very excited and overwhelmed at the same time to start our journey in this house.

Where have you moved?

We relocated to a new flat near Thane, Mumbai. It is an excellent bus and train route because it is only a 2-minute walk from the famous street. Nestled away from the city's hustle and bustle, the pollution-free environment complements our preference for peacefulness. Despite being distant from my workplace, multiple routes and transportation facilities like bus, local train, and metro were available to commute easily to the office. Additionally, the apartment offered a suite of amenities, including car parking, CCTV security, metro water connection, and more.

There are also parks explicitly designed for children and people to play and have fun. Aside from that, there are other groups and communities that you join for entertainment purposes. These communities also actively join together to celebrate every festival. Overall, this location is well-stocked and meets our basic requirements.

How did you feel about it?

I was quite excited to be in this new residence because it has better facilities, structure and space than our previous one. Furthermore, the low rent was the cherry on top. However, while acknowledging the unpredictability of the future, I embrace the anticipation of upcoming adventures. I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to be able to move and find a fantastic new place.

Describe a time you moved to a new home/school cue card - sample answer 3

Introduction

Experiencing frequent relocations presents a unique set of challenges, involving bidding farewell to the familiar, be it surroundings, friends, or neighbours, and embarking on a fresh journey in an entirely new environment. In this context, I'd like to recall a moment when I was 14 years old and my family relocated to a new location, which is still vivid in my mind.

When you moved?

I had just finished 9th grade and was surrounded by amazing pals with whom I could play and attend study sessions. My father told me a few days later that we were moving because of his job transfer. I became upset after learning about the relocation. Anyway, we moved to Jaisalmer, and I enrolled at a local high school.

Why did you move?

My family had to move around a lot due to my father's job transfer, which meant that I had to change schools a lot when I was younger.

Where have you moved?

We were in Bikaner earlier, but after my father’s transfer, we had to shift to Jaisalmer, which is around 5 to 6 hours or 267 Km away from Bikaner.

How did you feel about it?

It was quite an overwhelming experience, yet good. I was anxious about my first day of school since I had never been to this place and environment. I became anxious and restless when I couldn't find my classroom, but a teacher helped me find it. She taught and later welcomed me as a new student. Since I was the only new student in my assigned classroom, I was concerned when I noticed everything seemed different. At first, my class teacher told me to give my introduction in front of the whole class and then guided me about the basic rules and regulations of the school. My classmates were exceptionally polite and asked me to join them for lunch and games, which surprised me. I was overjoyed and immediately settled into a new school with my peers.
