Describe a Chocolate you didn’t like - IELTS speaking cue card

I am really fond of chocolates and enjoy experimenting with different types of chocolate. I believe it is really rare for someone to despise something as tasty as chocolate, which everyone on the planet enjoys, whether they are young or old. I've had a lot of different chocolate tastes in my life till now.

However, I recall this white chocolate from some Pitachi brand I had a few months ago.

One of my father’s cousins came to India from Afghanistan to visit us. He bought us various gifts, including some chocolates that were unavailable in India. Although he brought a variety of chocolate flavours for us, there was one flavour which I didn't like. It was white chocolate with some apple flavour. The exterior box was quite interesting in colour and featured an apple image. I'd never heard of this chocolate company before and was eager to test it.

I expected the chocolate to be primarily sweet with a tinge of apple. However, my excitement was short-lived as I took the first bite. However, I said nothing to them. The quality was poor, and the taste was awful. I immediately requested some water. The chocolate was not edible; it was pungent, bitter, and not what I had expected.

I was really delighted to sample those chocolates since my family members bought them from Afghanistan. However, I never thought it would be a nasty bite. I could feel a pungent and bitter taste on my tongue. For a while, I thought my uncle had pulled a joke on me, but then he explained that it is an acquired taste and that not everyone enjoys it the first time they try it.

I mean, I'm not that big a fan of chocolate. I was always a savoury person; therefore, I used to avoid chocolates. Despite tasting a wide variety of chocolate, I didn't enjoy most of it. But here is the one which was extremely bad in taste.

It was a dark chocolate truffle filled with orange flavour.

I initially tried it around a year ago during a gathering with my cousins. The chocolate looked nice, with a clean white shell and a tinge of orange from the lemon inside. However, the flavour was pathetic.

I only took two bites of the chocolate due to its harsh taste, and I put the rest in the trash. It was filled with orange-flavoured jelly. I was unable to finish it because of its unusual taste. Also, the combination of chocolate and orange did not go too well with my pallette. Its taste was inappropriate for this reason. I usually don't eat chocolate, so it was even more difficult for me to swallow the two bites.

To be honest, I didn’t enjoy this chocolate, mainly due to the conflicting flavours. Dark chocolate typically contains the flavour of cocoa powder, while orange is tart and zesty, and the contrast between them was too pronounced for my liking. Therefore, I didn’t like the chocolate and will not attempt to eat such dark chocolates again in life.

It's impossible to say no to chocolate. Everyone enjoys tasting various flavours of chocolate. Chocolates are generally distributed at a happy moment. Chocolates are made by well-known companies, including Lindt, Mars, Cadbury, Nestle, Amul, and Parle. Here, I'm going to tell you about a chocolate that I didn't like.

This chocolate was from an unknown brand, and it tasted awful. It was chocolate with a milk taste. My sibling in school received this chocolate. Though I don't usually eat chocolate, I tried it that day and found it horrible.

I didn't find its white colour to be appealing. It was looking so dreary. I just felt like I was eating milk powder with ample sugar. Also, it seemed unhealthy as it contains a lot of sugar. Because not all chocolates are like this, I quickly asked my sibling to change it and get another one.

Answer: Yes, children enjoy eating chocolates of various flavours. Chocolate is a popular choice for children of all ages since they are naturally drawn to sweet and delicious items. Different chocolate flavours can also be a fun way to explore and discover new favourites.

Question: What are some products that are made of chocolate?

Answer: In our country, India, many goods with various flavours have chocolate as the major ingredient. Drinks, cakes, ice cream, chocolate bars in multiple flavours, nuts, fruits, etc. We are unable to identify a specific product. We enjoy experimenting with new flavours.

Question: Can you describe some popular flavours of chocolate?

Answer: To be honest, companies currently introduce a wide range of chocolates due to competitiveness. However, some of the popular flavours include milky chocolate, dark chocolate, semisweet chocolate, and coconut chocolate.

Question: Do people like chocolate cakes?

Answer: Yes, chocolate cakes are famous right now, and they come in various chocolate flavours, such as white, red velvet, and dark. Teenagers and youngsters, on the other hand, prefer chocolate dips and black forest cakes. On the other hand, some seniors dislike the dark chocolate flavour because they find it bitter.

Question: Which are the most popular flavours people like in your country?

Answer: There are so many flavours that we cannot count or name them all, but some popular flavours include coconut, blueberry, and red velvet.

Question: Is it difficult to make chocolate at home?

Answer: Making simple chocolate dishes at home, such as chocolate bars or simple truffles, is reasonably straightforward with the correct ingredients and equipment, but mastering sophisticated chocolate confections can be difficult and requires talent.
