STEP 1 - Get your offer letter

Before applying for the Sweden study visa, make sure you receive an offer letter from a recognised educational institute in Sweden.

STEP 2 - Pay your first instalment at the university

Before applying for the visa, paying your first tuition fee instalment at the university is important to secure your seat.

STEP 3 - Log in to the Swedish Migration Agency website

International students can only apply for a Sweden study visa through the Swedish Migration Agency website.

STEP 4 - Fill out the Visa Application Form and Attach All Documents

After logging in to the Swedish Migration Agency, fill out the visa application form and attach all the required documents along with it.

STEP 5 - Pay the Visa Application Fee

After submitting the form, the portal will ask you to submit the visa application fee. You can easily submit the visa application fee online.

STEP 6 - Apper for the Visa Interview

After making an application for a Sweden study visa, the embassy will ask you to appear for the visa interview at the nearest office.

 If you are planning to apply for a Type D visa, then check the list of documents required for Sweden student visa. 

• Passport with validity for at least 3 months after visa expiry 

• Enrolment letter from a recognised university in Sweden 

• Proof of Enough Financial Capability 

• Receipt of tuition fee payment of the first semester 

• Proof of Health Insurance 

• Recent Photographs 

• Proof of English proficiency skills 

Depending on the applicant's age, a Sweden student visa fee varies. Currently, the visa fee for a residence permit in Sweden for academic purposes is SEK 1,500 (INR 11,445). Students can use a Visa or MasterCard to pay for the same online. (Bank/debit cards as well as credit cards are accepted.)

In Sweden, international students are permitted to work while they are studying. The maximum number of hours a student may work is unrestricted. However, a student is obligated to put in at least 40 hours of study per week.
