Entry Requirements for Medical Schools in UK

• At least 18 years old

• At least 80 % in your 10+2 (scores in Chemistry and Biology are essential in this case)

• Test results from the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT), the Biomedical Admissions Test (BMAT), or the GAMSAT.

• 50% percentile in NEET

Important Documents for Application

• IELTS score;

• Transcripts from high school confirming that your grades are sufficient to meet the requirements for admission to an MBBS programme;

• Personal statements that demonstrate your dedication to the MBBS program;

• Test scores from the mandatory medical admission tests which the universities require for your MBBS application and entry.

The UCAT (UKCAT), BMAT, or GAMTSAT are the most common medical admission tests used to apply to an MBBS programme in the United Kingdom.
To study MBBS in the UK, you usually require a minimum of 650 on the UKCAT, 4.5–5.0 on the BMAT, and 60–66 on the GAMSAT.
The goal of these assessments is to see if you have what it takes to study medicine at the MBBS level.
The medical admission test score that the colleges you choose prefer will be explicitly stated on their website, and you will need to register for and pass that specific medical entrance test separately.

Before applying to institutions through UCAS, you must first enroll for the UCAT or BMAT.

UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT / UKCAT)

Some UK medical and dentistry institutions use the UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) as part of their admissions process. It's a computerized test that measures cognitive ability, attitudes, critical thinking, and logical reasoning. Four logic exams and a situational judgement test are included.

• Verbal Reasoning - Assesses the capacity to reason logically about textual information and reach a conclusion: There are 11 paragraphs to read and 44 questions to answer in 21 minutes. 

• Quantitative reasoning- Examines numerical problem-solving ability: 24 minutes, 9 tables, charts, graphs, etc. as information and 36 questions.

• Abstract reasoning- Using convergent and divergent thinking, assesses the ability to draw relationships from data: 13 minutes and 55 questions.

• Decision Analysis: Assesses the capacity to work with a variety of data to infer relationships, make educated decisions, and choose an acceptable response: 32 minutes, 1 information-packed scenario, and 28 questions (basic calculator provided)

• Situational evaluation: This test assesses your ability to respond appropriately in a variety of scenarios as well as your understanding of medical ethics: There are 67 questions on 20 scenarios in 27 minutes.

Because the final deadline for applying to MBBS and other medical courses in the UK through UCAS is the 15th of October each year (for courses starting in September the following year), you must register for UCAT or BMAT examinations in advance.

• UCAT Registrations: open from June to September.

• UCAT Testing: from July until September.

• BMAT Test # Registration: open beginning September.

• BMAT Test #Testing: November.

Your BMAT score is sent directly to the universities to which you are applying.
All MBBS applications must be made through UCAS.
You can apply to a maximum of four courses through UCAS each year.

The application deadline of October 15 is for courses starting in September of the following year. This means that if you want to apply for an MBBS in 2022, you must finish your university application through UCAS by October 15, 2021.
