Eligibility criteria for German Universities

Germany is one of the best countries where you can grasp your further studies easily. It is a very good opportunity for the students for further studies. All the students who visit Germany get a Schengen Visa. The benefit of a Schengen visa is that with a Schengen visa, you can easily travel to 26 countries (which consider Schengen Visa) without any additional visa document. The students can get many benefits in Germany related to education, if you are going to pursue the MSc courses, then you can get a world-class education over there. Germany is mainly known for providing MSc courses. If the students want to move for a bachelor’s degree in Germany. Then they must have an education of 13 years (12 years of schooling + 1 year of college education). After completing the 13 years of education, the students become compatible and eligible to pursue bachelor’s courses in Germany.

Moreover, if the students do not have 1 year of college education then, there are two more conditions through which they can pursue a bachelor’s degree in Germany.

OPTION 1: The first option is that the students can take the admission for pre-bachelor’s courses in Germany. Generally, this pre-bachelor’s course is known as ‘Studienkolleg’ in Germany. In this pre-bachelor’s studies are taught which includes the subjects that are related to your bachelor’s course and also includes other language-related subjects like the German language or English language. Over here, the students have to complete 1 year of studies and then have to appear for the final exam to get eligible for the bachelor’s course.

OPTION 2: The second option is that, if the students have cleared both, the JEE advance and JEE mains, then also you become compatible with 13 years of education and get eligible for the bachelor’s courses in Germany.

To pursue the master’s course, the students must have completed the education of 16 years (i.e. 12 years of schooling + 4 years of bachelor’s degree). After completing 16 years of education, the students can get direct admission in the normal curriculum in Germany. Whereas if the students have completed the education of only 15 years (12 years of schooling + 3 years of bachelor’s), then also you can go for master’s course in Germany. But in this case, a few extract subjects will be added with your master’s course.

Furthermore, if the students are looking to secure admission in a public university, then it is informed that all the public universities in Germany do not charge the tuition fee. Only the students have to give the semester contribution, which costs around 60 euros to 400 euros. Also, to take admission in public universities in Germany, the students must have to fulfill the following criteria:

  • The good academic records (a minimum 2.3 GPA i.e. 73% to 75%) is required.

  • The students have to appear for the IELTS to prove their English proficiency and a minimum score of 6.5 (no less than 6) is required to take admission in public universities. Whereas few universities consider a score of 7 (with no less than 6.5) in IELTS.

  • Work experience is also required.

  • If the students are going for the master’s course then they must have to complete their bachelor’s in the relevant field.

There are few students who are unable to secure a good percentage in their previous studies. Then those students can opt for a private university. Germany has various world-rank private universities which provide students with further higher education at low tuition fee. The tuition fee for the private university is around 3000 euros to 5000 euros per semester. If we talk about the cost of living in Germany, the average cost of living is around 6000 euros to 7000 euros per year.
