New Announcements by Canada for International Students

  1. According to CIC News, Canada will increase the number of study permit holders. In 2022-2023 approximately 753,000 international students will get the study permit. This is an excellent opportunity for international students planning to study in Canada.

  2. Canada plans to expand the Student Direct Stream (SDS), which allows fast-track study permits for candidates from many countries to provide a smooth procedure for a study permit.

  3. To fill the gap of labour shortage, it is planning to promote permanent residence for international students in Canada.

  4. To help international students track their applications, Canada's immigration authority has promised to publish monthly data on backlogs.

  5. Recently, working off-campus in Canada for international students is also permissible. The students can work for over 20 hours per week in a temporary measure. Internationals who have already submitted a study permit application can also avail this opportunity.
