Where would this place be?

A house beside the seaside would be my ideal residence. I would open the curtains every morning and see the breaking waves as the sun rose. I find inner peace in the melodic and calming sound of breaking waves. Furthermore, it's beautiful to imagine myself lounging on the porch while the sea breeze rips through the knots in my hair.

What would it look like?

When my friends would come over for sleepovers, the house would be big enough to accommodate me, my parents, and my friends. I wish to have a home with big wide doors to welcome family and friends. It would be in hues of peach to complement the ocean's blue and create a contrast to it. I also want to put a lot of paintings on my walls.

When would you like to live there?

I would be over the moon if I could live in this house. But I would buy and live in it in six to seven years when I am financially sound enough to support myself and my parents.

Explain why it is ideal for you.

It would be ideal since I get to choose the location and every item that goes into the house.

Conclusion

I will be overjoyed to live in the ideal home I have worked so hard to build for my parents and myself. I would be happiest seeing my parents' beaming pride when they see my perfect home.

Describe your idea of a perfect home or dream house where you want to live - IELTS cue card - sample answer 2

Introduction

I live in a city, and my home is in a central residential area. If I could describe my perfect home or dream house, it would be at a higher altitude near hills and streams of water or a valley.

Where would this place be?

I want my house to be in a village in Mizoram, not too big, just enough for my family to live in. My current city is getting increasingly congested daily, and the air and noise pollution are worsening it.

What would it look like?

I would want a small house with a garden in the backyard. I am fond of gardening, and I will use the garden to grow plants like tomatoes, lemons, chilli, spinach, and various flowers. I will also own a dog who will enjoy the vast garden space and run around as he pleases.

When would you like to live there?

Once I start earning well, I will pay occasional monthly visits to the place to complete the work as per my requirements. When I finally secure a stable financial position, I shall move here permanently and spend my days in a clean and beautiful surrounding.

Explain why it is ideal for you.

The hustle and bustle of city life can stress a person, and one has no time to rejuvenate. Owning a place in the hilly areas will ensure peace and tranquillity. I will also be away from the rush and pollution of the city, and it will be the ideal place to spend time with my family for the rest of my days.

Conclusion

The first step in beginning work is to hope to achieve anything, as dreams are necessary for life to be uninteresting and worthwhile. To make a long tale short, this is my vision of the ideal home, and with God's grace and patience, I will undoubtedly be able to realise my dream home.

Introduction

Everybody's definition of the ideal home is different. Some see it as a modern, bustling apartment in the city, while others see it as a peaceful haven in the countryside. My ideal house would be somewhere I could unwind and take in the wonders of the outdoors.

Where would this place be?

My dream house would be in a foreign country, with breathtaking morning and evening sky views and tall skyscrapers. I can spend my whole day visiting local markets, trying new food and taking long walks near the countryside.

What would it look like?

It would be significant and modern, with large windows offering stunning sea views—there would be a garden with a patio where I could spend summer evenings with family or make some friends.

When would you like to live there?

Once I save enough money to settle down with my family there, my livelihood won’t be much of a struggle since I would start to live in my dream-house.

Explain why it is ideal for you.

This place is ideal for me because it offers a serene environment where I can relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Nature has always had a soothing effect on me, and living near it would be a dream come true.

Conclusion

Many people dream of living in a dream house or perfect home in a foreign country, but few can fulfil this dream. This is one of my dreams, and I hope it will become a reality soon.

IELTS Speaking Cue Card - Follow-up questions

Question: In your country, what type of home do most people live in?

Answer: India is a vast country with an extensive population diversity. The type of house a person lives in depends on the region in which they live. For example, a person living in northeast India would have a bamboo or wood house, reflecting the traditional building materials of the region.

The people in North India, especially in the Himalayan region, have sloped roofs on their homes to ensure snow can slide off them, a practical design choice for the harsh winters. People living in metropolitan cities tend to live in apartments, reflecting the urban lifestyle and the need for compact living spaces.

Question: Do young people in your country like to live with their parents or by themselves?

Answer:In India, young people usually tend to live with their parents if they live in the same city. This is because of the strong family bonds and the cultural value placed on intergenerational living. Indians are known to live in joint families, meaning that children stay with their parents. They only live by themselves if they migrate to another city or country for their education or work purposes. I, too, lived with my parents until I moved to another city for my studies, which was a significant change for me.

Question: How are modern homes different from older homes?

Answer:Older homes in India have a courtyard or veranda, an open, roofless space in the middle. These are also meant to accommodate a whole family, meaning they are spacious and spread out on a big plot of land. However, modern houses are designed to accommodate only a nuclear family of parents and two children. However, they are equipped with all the modern facilities and electrics.

Question: What are the differences between houses and apartments?

Answer:The most significant difference between the two is that a house is a stand-alone building meant to accommodate only the owner and his family. In contrast, an apartment is a big building divided into multiple units that can accommodate several different families. Houses are spacious and have exclusive parking spaces, while apartments have limited space, shared parking, and hallways.
