Chevening Scholarships are given to outstanding people who have been identified as future leaders in a range of fields, such as politics, business, the media, civil society, religion, and academia. Top-tier graduates with the necessary personal, intellectual, and interpersonal skills to lead should apply.

  • Reside in Scotland at the time of application and have completed at least two years of secondary education there, OR be able to demonstrate (to the satisfaction of the Trustees) a substantial and recent connection to Scotland through residency, education (excluding university level education), or upbringing.
  • Have an unconditional offer for, OR be a continuing student on, a full-time, part-time, or distance learning UG degree course validated by one of these universities but delivered at another institution in Scotland (for example, Scotland's Rural College or a FE College that delivers degree level courses).

Saltire Scholarship for PG European and EEA Students

Scholarship amount The scholarship is worth £8000 and comes with a tuition fee reduction.

  • Are a European Union or European Economic Area (EEA) citizen or permanent resident with international fee-paying status.
  • Have applied for a position on a QMU master's level PG degree course in Scotland, which will commence in January 2022.
  • Will be enrolled in a full-time one-year program.
  • Not previously studied in Scotland or at a Scottish university (exception made for previous short courses of less than one year).
  • Show willingness to assist communications operations promoting Scotland and Scottish higher education based on their personal experience.
  • Are not eligible for any other course fee reductions, such as the European Transition Scholarship. In effect, this means that if you receive a Saltire Scholarship from the European or EEA, you will pay the full international cost minus the 8000 euros scholarship. Furthermore, the national rules for the scheme stipulate that, after applying the scholarship amount, course tuition must be lower than that charged to students from Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom.
