Overview

Students considering studying abroad are always looking for ways to ease their financial burden. In this regard, study abroad scholarships play a huge role in providing financial aid to students. Scholarships are of different types; they are different from loans or scholarships. Each scholarship also has its criteria and a set of requirements that an applicant must meet.
A scholarship is a certain sum of money/aid given by any educational institution to a brilliant/capable student, whether in academic, sports or creative fields, so that he can pursue his studies without having to worry reimbursement of the amount. A scholarship is usually awarded to students who have high merit but lack financial support.
Another feature or way to help students in addition to scholarships to study abroad are scholarships or college scholarships, a type of gift aid that students do not need to repay. They are need-based and are awarded to students who cannot afford to pursue their educational goals, due to a lack of financial means. However, unlike grants and scholarships, student loans must be repaid with interest. Therefore, it is not the best way to continue one's studies.

For scholarship programs abroad, some of the most essential application requirements are:

  • A completed registration/application form
  • Letter of intent/motivation or statement of intent/personal statement
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Letter of admission provided by the university or an institution
  • Financial statements/bank statements showing proof and source of funds
  • Academic transcripts/mark sheets
  • Certificates of academic achievement or athletic/creative achievement, any scholarship certificates

Some applications may also require English proficiency scores such as TOEFL iBt test, IELTS test.

To begin the process of any scholarship application, the student must have received an offer of admission from the university. Once the offer and financial documents are in place, the online application for the scholarship can be started. The application process is transparent, online and documents must be uploaded for the application to be considered complete. Incomplete applications are rejected.
