Describe an unusual meal that you had – IELTS cue card sample answer 1

Introduction

As a food vlogger, I often explore various restaurants or cafes. Here, I’ll discuss one incident when I tried an unusual meal during a trip to Delhi while covering the city's street food scene.

Who were you with? / Where did you go?

My whole team went to Delhi to cover the street food. One of my college friends suggested I try a 7-layer Dahi chaat, so we all went to Janpath Market to try it.

When did it happen?

This unique dining experience took place on a sunny afternoon in the month of April.

Why was it unusual?

I found 7-layer Dahi chaat unusual because I had never tried it before. This meal stood out due to its unconventional nature. The dish, comprising layers of yoghurt, spices, chutneys, and crispy toppings (boiled potato with beetroot, Papdi, fried gram flour balls, pomegranate, sprouts, yoghurt, and chutneys), was unlike anything I had ever tasted. Each layer offered a distinct combination of flavours and textures, creating a truly memorable dining experience.

Conclusion

I had a good experience trying the 7-layer Dahi chaat. It was the best. I definitely want to try this meal again whenever I go to Delhi.

Introduction

Recently, I tried sushi, a unique type of Japanese food. It was an unusual meal because I had never had it before. Let me tell you about the first time I had sushi.

Who were you with? / Where did you go?

I was with my family when we visited a sushi restaurant in Mumbai near my home.

When did it happen?

It happened last summer in May when we planned to spend time together.

Why was it unusual?

Sushi is unusual because it's made with raw fish and rice, which might sound strange if you're not used to it. But it's delicious if you like raw meat.

I started with a simple roll called a California roll, which had crab, avocado and cucumber inside. It was so tasty and fresh. Then, I tried some nigiri, small pieces of fish on top of a mound of rice. The texture was soft and smooth and the flavours exploded in my mouth.

Conclusion

Eating sushi was a fun and exciting experience. Now, whenever I see a sushi restaurant, I go there to try more delicious sushi.

Introduction

Khao Suey is a special dish from Myanmar that's like a flavour adventure in a bowl. Let me share my experience trying the veggie version of Khao Suey.

Who were you with? / Where did you go?

I went with my friends to a cosy restaurant in a town known for its exotic dishes.

When did it happen?

It happened just a few weeks ago when we decided to explore new tastes together.

Why was it unusual?

Khao Suey is unique and unusual because it combines many tasty things in one bowl and you get to mix and match toppings. Khao Suey bowl was filled with creamy coconut milk soup and topped with heaps of noodles. But the best part was the toppings. We had crispy fried onions, crunchy peanuts, fresh cilantro and tangy lime slices to squeeze in.

With every spoon, I felt different flavours- the creamy coconut, the tangy lime and the crunchy peanuts. It was like a party in my mouth.

Conclusion

Trying Khao Suey was such a flavorful experience. It's a dish that brings people together and lets you playfully explore new tastes.
