This visa also allows international students to work part-time during their studies. Also, after graduating from Australian universities, international students are allowed for PSW (post-study work). The duration of PSW varies from 18 months to 6 years.

Process to Apply for an Australian Student Visa

International students must apply at least 8 weeks before the course starting date. Also, check the list of all the essential documents required for visa application and gather them all. Students can apply online for subclass 500. They can start their visa application as soon as they receive confirmation of enrolment from the university. The steps to apply for the visa are as follows:

  • Firstly, the students have to fill out an online application form for the visa and attach all the documents required for the application.
  • While submitting an application, students have to pay the visa application fee, which is about 650 AUD. This fee is non-refundable even if your visa gets rejected.
  • As soon as the students submit their visa applications, they will get a Transaction Reference Number (TRN). Through TRN, international students can check all the updates regarding their visas.
  • After submitting an application, students have to create a HAP ID for the medical check-up. Students must have to visit the Australian immigration designated health centre for medical check-ups.
  • The health check-up reports will be directly sent to the Australian embassy. Then they will assess the student's profile.
  • The embassy will surely approve the visa if the student's profile is genuine. They will let you know in writing their decision. Also, they will tell you your visa grant number, visa expiration date, and visa conditions for future reference.

Tips to Get Australian Visa Approval?

International students can easily achieve an Australian student visa by following certain tips:

  • Ensure that you provide genuine academic documents, and your profile must be competitive.
  • Choosing a course that is relevant to your previous academic field increases the chances of getting a visa.
  • Focus on your SOP (statement of purpose), as it is a very important part of your visa application. While writing an SOP, students must mention the reason for choosing that particular course and university. Also, they have compared the education system in their home country and Australia.
  • Since a medical test is a compulsory part of the Australian visa process, one must stay fit and healthy.
  • While appearing for a visa interview, you must be consistent with your answers. Also, your answer must be justified by the documents you provide.
  • Make sure you do not mention that you have any intention to stay back in Australia after you complete your studies.
