The University of the West of England, Bristol (UWE Bristol) is a public research university in Bristol, England, that was granted university status in 1992. It is located in and around Bristol. The University's Chancellor and Vice Chancellor are Sir Ian Carruthers and Steven West, respectively. UWE Bristol is a vibrant, modern institution that offers a diverse choice of highly regarded programmes and career-enhancing possibilities.
UWE Bristol is a well-established university with over 29,000 students, 250,000 alumni, and 3,000 staff members. It is located in one of the UK's most vibrant cities. International students make up 21% of the student population, representing 140 different countries, making this a diverse and interesting place to study. Six months after graduation, 95% of UWE Bristol graduates are employed or enrolled in further education.
UWE Bristol offers a diverse range of studies across the arts, creative industries, health, science, business, law, environment, and technology disciplines, with over 600 undergraduate, postgraduate, professional, and short course options. The University is well-known for the quality of its teaching as well as the overall student experience.
There are 14 departments at UWE Bristol, which are dispersed over three sites in and around Bristol. UWE Bristol has also made significant investments in cutting-edge facilities and resources to ensure that students have access to everything they need to succeed, with £200 million set to be spent on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation by 2020.
In both January and September, UWE Bristol provides an airport pickup service for incoming students, as well as orientation events throughout the first weeks of term. Throughout the year, students can take free English language classes offered by the Centre for English Language and Academic Skills.
UWE Bristol has been ranked in the top 30 UK universities in the 2021 Times Higher Education ‘Table of Tables’.
Our campus-based housing houses over 3,000 students, with many rooms featuring en-suite bathrooms. All full-time students in their first year of study at UWE Bristol who submit an accommodation application by the June deadline will be guaranteed university-approved housing. There are over 4,500 rooms available, and all UWE Bristol-owned lodging includes overnight security, wifi, belongings insurance, and laundries.
