The University of Strathclyde is a world-class technological university in Glasgow, it's established in 1796. It is a vibrant and inviting destination for students from over 100 countries.
Strathclyde University has been providing students with flexible and creative learning in preparation for their chosen professional path for more than 200 years, producing academic excellence via world-class research and teaching.
The University was named the Times Higher Education University of the Year for the second time in 2019, making it the first Scottish university to do so. The Sunday Times Good University Guide selected Strathclyde University Scottish University of the Year 2020, and it got the Queen's Anniversary Prize, the highest national honour bestowed on the sector.
Each of the university's four schools – Science, Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Strathclyde Business School – collaborates extensively with industry, government, and policymakers, resulting in a solid track record of putting technology and innovation to good use.
Throughout the academic year, the International Student Club meets weekly to provide an informal setting for students to meet and get to know one another. Day and weekend tours, international culinary dinner events, theatre visits, and music concerts are among the social activities scheduled. Students can also meet and develop vital contacts and friends during the weekly international meetups.
There are pre-sessional and in-sessional English courses available, as well as free English language tutoring and support for up to four hours per week. Other difficulties, such as visas, employment, and lodging, can also be addressed by the staff.
Strathclyde University is a 5-star QS-rated institution that has been selected University of the Year by Times Higher Education in 2012 and 2019, as well as Entrepreneurial University of the Year in 2013. They are the current Scottish University of the Year for 2020, as well as the recipient of the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education, the sector's highest national honour.
The University of Strathclyde Technology & Innovation Centre is revolutionising Strathclyde's research output, and the University recently moved into the top 20 research intensive universities in the UK, according to the most recent Research Excellence Framework. Physics is ranked first in the United Kingdom, whereas Electronic and Electrical Engineering is first in Scotland.
Almost 1,500 students live on campus, with another 400 living in University housing within walking distance. All first-year undergraduate students are guaranteed a place in University accommodation at Strathclyde, which is divided into apartments with a shared kitchen. After the first year, a web service is provided to link landlords with students who want to move off campus.
The University of Strathclyde is located in Glasgow, Scotland, a dynamic and cosmopolitan city with a strong cultural scene, cutting-edge music, and an active nightlife. As well as more than 20 museums and galleries, are all located there. There is a lot of green space in the city centre, with 19th century manicured parks and gardens surrounding students who need a break from the frenetic pace of life.
Students can also visit the highlands and islands, which are less than an hour's drive from Glasgow.
