Canterbury Christ Church University is a public institution situated in Canterbury, Kent, England. The University extends courses of higher education level.
In 1962, the Canterbury Christ Church College was established to provide thorough teacher training. The Privy Council extended degree-granting privileges to it in 1995, giving rise to the moniker Canterbury Christ Church University College. CCCU was granted university status under its present name in the year 2005. The Privy Council granted CCCU the ability to offer research degrees in 2009. MillionPlus, Cathedrals Group, and the Universities at Medway are all affiliated with the university.

The University has a major campus in a picturesque setting in North Holmes in Canterbury, as well as numerous additional locations across the city. It also offers a number of programs at its Medway and Tunbridge Wells campuses. The university library, which contains a collection of rare and unusual written and digital materials, is the primary source of information for research, teaching, and learning on campus. The institution has relationships with different transportation providers and programs that provide students and employees with travel savings. A chaplaincy, a health facility, and an internet shop are also available on campus.

The University was awarded a coveted silver grade in the Teaching Excellence Framework, surpassing national quality standards for UK universities. Almost 90% of the research submitted to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) was designated as world-leading, globally outstanding, or internationally recognized. Top 20 in the United Kingdom for Qualified Teaching Staff. In addition to their academic and professional credentials, 79% of their academic personnel have a teaching qualification, as reported by HESA 2017/18.

Roughly 1,200 students participate in a variety of sports with other institutions on a regular basis, and our Sports Scholarships scheme annually supports roughly 40 exceptional young athletes, including a world record-holder and many international competitors. The University is the primary sponsor of the Kent Women's Cricket team and works with a variety of local and regional clubs and organizations, including the Polo Farm Sports Club in Canterbury.

The Sports Centre of the University has premier health and fitness amenities such as an exercise studio, a climbing wall, a gym, and a sports hall. St. George's Centre has a 200-seat housing facility, bars, and student union offices. On-campus, there are a number of dining establishments where students may enjoy excellent and healthy food and beverages. The union administers over 100 student organizations and societies connected to academics, as well as focusing on students' recreational, sports, cultural, and political interests. In addition, the institution houses a student-run Community and Student Radio Station, and the Unified news newspaper. The university includes four academic buildings, each with multiple schools and learning centers specializing in distinct fields of study.

The University provides a wide range of scholarships for undergraduate, postgraduate courses and separately for international students as well. There are certain distinct criteria that need to be met under each of these scholarships. The criteria have not been mentioned below. The CCCU Grant 2021/22 extends a grant of up to £600 per year of study to aid with daily expenses.


The Advent Semester I in the Canterbury Christ Church University begins on September 27, 2021. The date remains the same for undergraduate and postgraduate courses of 2021. The early start foundation courses, however, start with the commencement date as September 13.

Currently, the institution has around 15,300 students, with 75 percent of students seeking degrees full-time and 25 percent pursuing degrees part-time. It employs 1,700 people, with women constituting more than half of the workforce.
