Aston University UK

It was founded in 1895 and is located in Birmingham, England.

Aston Institution is a vibrant, inviting, and international campus-based university in the heart of Birmingham, the United Kingdom's second largest city. It was founded in 1895, and Queen Elizabeth II granted it a Royal Charter as a University in 1966. Five schools (Business, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Languages and Social Sciences, Life and Health Sciences, and Medical School) offer foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programmes on the site. Around 11,000 undergraduates and 2,000 postgraduate students from more than 120 countries attend Aston University.

Aston Martin has routinely placed high in foreign league standings. 78 per cent of research submitted in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) was rated as "world leading" or "internationally recognised." Other notable achievements include being ranked among the top 100 Best 'Golden Age' Universities in the World (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2017), the top 200 in the world (2018 QS Graduate Employability Rankings), and the top 200 Throughout Europe (Times Higher Education European University Rankings 2018).

You can study French, German, Spanish, Mandarin, or Arabic as an optional module within your degree programme or as an extracurricular activity while at Aston, regardless of your undergraduate course. Over 30 Joint Honours degrees are available at the University, allowing you to study two independent courses to Honours level while also integrating the two academic disciplines.

Birmingham Airport is 20 minutes by train from Birmingham New Street Station, while London is 90 minutes by rail or two hours by car for international students travelling into the city. The city's main shopping and entertainment centres are only a 10-minute walk from our multicultural campus. According to the Mercer Quality of Living Report 2015, Birmingham City has the greatest quality of life of any city in the UK outside of London. In 2010, Aston University has named the best university for student quality of life, while FHM and Virgin Student named it one of the friendliest in the UK.

Services for International Students

At the start of each year, an International Orientation Program is held to provide information and support to new international students. Student volunteers, known as 'Aston Aunties,' assist in greeting students as they arrive at Birmingham Airport at specific periods during the academic year and assisting them in adjusting to the new culture and experiences that await them.

Throughout the year, a team of International Student Advisers and Welfare professionals who specialise in visas and immigration are available, and students are assigned a personal tutor to help them with any academic challenges that arise during their studies.

The Aston Support Fund provides financial assistance to students who are paying Home tuition costs and are experiencing financial hardship. The grants available are determined by a case-by-case analysis of your circumstances. If you are suffering an unforeseen problem that will not be resolved shortly2, 2022 and has impaired your financial ability to cover your basic living expenditures, you may be eligible for financial assistance.
These grants are only available to Aston University students who are enrolled full-time. Your application will be rejected if you are not completely enrolled when you apply.
