University of Toronto Intakes for International Students in 2023

The University of Toronto offers two intakes for international students every year, i.e. September and January. Since the University has a high ranking, the applications get filled very soon. The applications for the January 2023 intake are closed now. Whereas the online application for the September 2023 intake will open on November 17th, 2022. Although applications will be accepted until departmental admissions targets are met, completed applications with all supporting documents should be submitted by February 2nd, 2023. Whereas the early submission of the application with all the documents allows supervisors to review your application before they have accepted other students and, thus, increases the chances of getting an offer letter from the University. Admission Criteria to Study at the University of Toronto

However, to enrol for undergraduate programmes, students must score a minimum of 80% in 12th standard, and a minimum of 8.0 CGPA in undergraduate is required to enrol for graduate courses. The University accepts various English proficiency tests like IELTS, TOEFL, and Duolingo to assess international students' language skills. University of Toronto Application Process

International students can make an application to the University through Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) using the "105" application. The student's academic history and grades are integral to an application at U of T. The University charges 180 CAD as a non-refundable application fee. The University also encourages students to apply well in advance of the posted deadlines as the spaces fill quickly, and programs may close before the application deadlines. The steps to enrol at the University of Toronto are:

  • Firstly, submit an application to the University with all the required documents.

  • After one week of submitting an application, the University will send students an email acknowledgement that includes the student's JOINid/UTORid, their University of Toronto applicant number, and full information about the next steps in the application process.

  • The University first verifies if the students have met the general admission criteria, and then they check whether the students have met the course-specific requirements.

  • Students will receive a decision from all of the University's faculties that they student have selected. Those who are not admitted to their selected program may be considered for alternate programs and campuses. Admission decisions are released starting in the new year and through to late May.

  • Generally, all the admission decisions are final. While in some circumstances, a decision may be reviewed for procedural fairness and lawfulness.
